What's new in v4.6: missing episodes and IMDb ratings ⭐

Everything CineLibrary Essentials writes now shows, your whole library can get its IMDb ratings, and fetched pictures go onto your drives.

⚡ v4.6.3: a quicker start

• Tag performance improvements: fixes a UI delay at start-up.

🙈 v4.6.2: leave a folder out

• Put an empty file named .nomedia in a folder and CineLibrary skips it and everything inside, as Kodi does. Handy for old episodes whose .nfo calls them movies.
• Anything from that folder already in your library shows as missing after the next Update, and Review on the Drives page removes it.

🩹 v4.6.1: shows split by season join back up

Sorry: 4.6.0 could leave a show several times over, the old copies marked Missing, after its seasons were brought together into one show. 4.6.1 puts it right on the next Update, and nothing you marked is lost.

• One show again: watched episodes, favorites, lists, tags and notes move from the old season entries to the show, and the Missing entries go.
• One folder for many: adding a folder that holds folders you added before (like your TV folder after its shows one by one) replaces them with that one folder, so every show in it gets scanned.
• Using CineLibrary Essentials? Update it to 1.3.1 too, for the cast of every season and one card per show.

📺 A fuller show page

• Missing episodes: the aired episodes you don't have appear greyed in their season, with the air date, and seasons you have none of are listed. Specials and episodes that haven't aired never count. Settings can turn the check off.
• IMDb and TMDb ratings with their votes, IMDb in gold and TMDb in green.
• Created by, every studio and network, the country, the tagline and how long an episode is.

⭐ IMDb ratings for your whole library

• Update IMDb ratings on the Drives page gets the IMDb rating and votes of every movie and show in one go, and makes IMDb the main ★.
• Older .nfo files with only a TMDb id get their IMDb id from TMDb first.
• Written into each .nfo, changing only the ratings: on connected drives now, on the others when you plug them in.

• The edition (Director's Cut, Extended, IMAX), every studio and country, and a 🎞 Trailer button.
• Tags from your .nfo files beside your own, and Reload from .nfo to see an edit from CineLibrary Essentials at once.

💾 Fetched pictures on your drives

• After Fetch missing info, the poster, fanart and cast photos are copied into the movie's or show's folder. A drive that isn't connected gets them the next time you plug it in. Files already there are never replaced.

• The yellow ★ is the rating your .nfo marks as default, as in Kodi, every source counts out of 10, and TV show cards take the page's size.

• A movie window you can browse with ← and →, with the rest of the collection and more by the director.

• The movie details window uses the whole screen: on wide screens the buttons and plot sit beside a bigger poster, with the details in a column of their own; narrow windows stack everything in one column.
• CineLibrary's purple is the accent everywhere, list view keeps up when you switch themes, and Backup and Export light up in the sidebar.

• A quick panel on every show card: genres, seasons, how much you've watched, and ▶ Play for the next episode, Favorite and Watchlist.
• All TV Shows is just your shows, the grids line up with the page title, and visiting Continue Watching no longer changes how your movies are sorted.

• Kodi's season folders work. Episodes in Season 01, Season 02 or Specials folders, with their .nfo details and thumbnails, are found. After updating, open Drives and click Rescan.
• Choose your video player in Settings → Playback: VLC, MPC-HC, PotPlayer, mpv or any other, with the Windows default always one click away.
• Uninstalling keeps your library, also after an upgrade, and no more floating "Esc" label over the movie details window.

🔧 Also recent: a fresh foundation (v3.5.0)

• Supported for years ahead. CineLibrary runs on .NET 10 (supported until November 2028) and the latest Windows App SDK, well before .NET 8 reaches end of support on 10 November 2026. Same app, same speed, nothing extra to install.
• Steadier start-up and backups. A rare start-up error is gone, deeply nested install folders work, and the Dupes description says exactly what Dupes does.

• Real duplicates, not false alarms. Matched by TMDb / IMDb id (then title + year), so two different films that share a name (Solaris 1972 vs 2002) are never merged.
• Protects your dubbed & edition copies. Keep the same film in different audio languages (Hindi plus the original, or Tamil / Telugu / Hindi) or different editions (Director's Cut vs Theatrical) and Dupes marks them kept on purpose, never flagged. Only genuine same-version copies are surfaced.
• A decision tool. It recommends the keeper (best resolution, then largest file), shows how much space you'd reclaim per set and in total, and lets you Open folder on any copy or send one to Watched & Gone.
• Ignore set. Tell Dupes a group is fine and it stays hidden, remembered across rescans.
• Non-destructive. CineLibrary never deletes your files. Delete a copy in Explorer, switch back, and the set updates itself.

✨ Also recent: fill the gaps with TMDb (v3.4)

• Add watched movie. In Watched & Gone, record a film you saw somewhere else: at the cinema, on a streaming service, or a friend's copy. Search TMDb, pick the match, and it's saved as a record with poster, top-billed cast, plot and details, plus your note, tags and the date you watched it.
• Fetch missing info from TMDB. A button on every movie's detail window fills only the blanks (poster, fanart, plot, cast, year, …). Matches by the movie's TMDb id, or a quick pick-from-list. Fill-only: your existing MediaElch data is never overwritten.
• Sync to drive (state + fetched art). Write your personal state and any fetched poster, fanart and cast photos back into the movie folders, with the rest recorded in a tiny sidecar. It never rewrites your .nfo, so the drive stays the source of truth and a rescan can't lose your fill-ins.
• Background material (Mica): Off / Subtle / Strong. Pick how much wallpaper tint shows behind the sidebar. The poster grid always stays solid for smooth scrolling.

🎞️ Watched & Gone: the memory keeper it builds on

• Keep the memory, drop the file. Right-click a movie (or multi-select several) → Send to Watched & Gone. It leaves your library but stays a record: poster, details, your notes, watched state, tags and history all kept. Your files on the drive are never touched.
• A page of its own. Browse your records as a poster wall, search and sort them (Recently gone, Title, Year, Rating), restore any back to the library, delete a record for good, or export the list to CSV.
• Completely isolated. Records never clutter All Movies, Search, Browse, Collections, Statistics, lists, tags or Discovery. Statistics shows a quiet tally instead.
• Review missing movies. When a scan finds files gone from disk, a tidy Review dialog pre-ticks the watched/noted ones to keep as records and lets you drop the rest. Your choice, per movie.
• Smart about returns. Re-download or move a record and it automatically revives into your library at its new home, notes and history intact, no duplicates (matched by IMDb/TMDb id, then title + year). Left in place, it stays a record.
• Safe & portable. Records survive scans, cleanup, and removing a folder or whole drive; they travel with your portable folder and a Backup remembers them.
